Independent Advocacy for disabled parents

Who we are : Derby City Local Authority

What we are doing : Looking at integration and collaboration of practices between specialist mental health services and social care children and families department in Derby City. This is part of a wider initiative being worked on around the ‘Think Family’ agenda, improving the way in which systems work together. 

Our Aims: along with the Local Authority in Derby City are:
 
1.       Protection of vulnerable children
2.       Better outcomes for families where there are mental health problems
3.       Responding to research on the trauma model and helping services to move towards reasoned understanding of the relationship between childhood trauma and neglect and the development of mental health problems
4.       Improvement in outcomes for families with complex need
5.       Better co-ordinated input to families
6.       Reducing likelihood of duplication of input
7.       Staff work together, comprehensively, with a shared understanding of the families difficulties and care planning – by specialist facilitation of professional team around the family 
 
What we need from you:. Derbyshire Healthcare Foundation Trust will be contributing directly to children and families teams but as ever all services are required to do more with less.Any help you might provide us with would be most appreciated.
